My Values
When people meet me, they find a warm, caring individual. My clinic is a quiet, family oriented space. I believe family comes first. If you need to bring children to your appointment they would be welcomed warmly.
I am a community oriented person. I believe all people should be able to access massage therapy to relieve their pain and improve or maintain their activities of daily living. I have proven this philosophy with my volunteer work in the community.
During my time at the College of Massage and Hydrotherapy I participated in various outreaches such as:
- Shadowed RMT at The Walk for the Cure, Toronto, Ontario 2008
- Performed post sport massage for the participating athletes.
- Assessed the athletes needs, preformed stretches
- Shadowed RMT at the Grandriver Cancer Centre, Kitchener, Ontario 2009
- Provided gentle relaxation massage to patients in the cancer ward
- Assessed information from hospital charts to determine the best massage therapy for that patient.
Since Graduating from the College I have continued my volunteer work in the community by participating in events such as:
- 2010 MS walk in Kitchener/Waterloo
- Heart and Stroke Foundation: 8th Annual Row for Heart Regatta
- Deaf Blind Ontario Services: 3rd Annual Indulge Your Senses Event in Waterloo
- KW Knitters Fair: Ergonomics Lecture
- Shall We Knit: Lectures on the benefits of massage therapy and crafting
- Shall We Knit: Ergonomics for Crafters
- Shall We Knit: Knit in Public Day, I gave 15 min. massages to patrons with a donation to the Woman's Crisis Shelter
I also enjoy reaching out to the community through writing.
- I have had a wonderful opportunity to write an article regarding Massage Therapy for the Business Section of The Kitchener Citizen!
- I was interviewed for an article in the Grand Health & Wellness magazine, exploring Therapeutic Benefits of Knitting.
